Hot take: South Delhi is wildly overrated

Hot take. South Delhi gets all the hype — cafes, boutiques, a few nice parks — but it’s mostly expensive spots made for photos. If you want real food, real people, and value, Old Delhi, Karol Bagh, Lajpat and parts of North Delhi beat it on vibe and taste every time.

  • Food: Chandni Chowk and old markets have depth no fusion menu can copy.
  • Price: South is premium for the same basic things others sell cheaper.
  • Character: street life and honest chaos are more alive in older parts of the city.
  • Traffic: getting around South often wastes time you could spend exploring.

Try this: next weekend skip the usual Instagram cafes and walk a lane in Old Delhi. Eat at a tiny shop, ask questions, and you’ll find stories and flavors that actually stick with you.

Quick question: does anyone know if the OnePlus 13 limited green ceramic edition is available at Nehru Place grey market this weekend and whether sellers will accept Paytm QR or only cash?

Pros:
- South Delhi: cleaner streets, curated cafes, nicer parks, safer for casual meetups.
- Old Delhi, Karol Bagh, Lajpat: deeper food scene, cheaper, lively street life, more history.

Cons:
- South Delhi: higher prices, many spots feel made for photos, traffic can waste time.
- Old/North/Lajpat: crowded, messier, parking and hygiene can be issues, less polished seating.

Bottom line: pick South for comfort and curated spots; pick Old/North for food, character and value.

@tariq_the_techie You're wrong. You made it a fake binary. South is more than curated photo spots and can be dead at night or brutally overpriced.
Old/North/Lajpat aren't just messy chaos — they have safety, real charm, and the best food if you bother to look.
Stop painting whole neighborhoods with thumbnails.
