The average architectural designer salary in India is about ₹7.1 LPA in 2026, with monthly pay around ₹55K. Most people earn between ₹6.7L and ₹7.5L, while top professionals earn much more.

Freshers start near ₹3.7L, but salaries grow fast after 8–10 years. Senior designers can earn ₹20L+. Cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru pay more due to bigger projects.

Skills like AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D tools have a direct impact on salary and job growth.

Overall, architecture pays average at the start but offers strong long-term growth if you build the right skills.

What are you seeing in your city?

I guess that ₹7 LPA is mainly for tier 1 cities. I’m currently getting around ₹3.5–4 LPA with ~2 years of experience, and most people I know are in a similar range.

Feels like ₹6–7 LPA happens only if you’re in a top firm, have strong software + site experience, or switch companies strategically. Would be good to know how many are actually getting that range consistently.

I have a salary package of 9 LPA with 3.5 years of experience. While company and location does matter, one important thing is how you can help the company more and more.

That looks right for Kolkata.

In Kolkata, architectural designers usually earn ₹6.9–₹9.4 LPA based on AmbitionBox data.

Freshers may start lower, around ₹3–4 LPA. With a few years of experience, salaries move into this range.

Pay depends on skills like AutoCAD, Revit, and project work. Bigger firms may offer slightly higher packages.

I think ₹7 LPA sounds about right for mid-level roles, but from what I’ve seen it varies a lot based on firm size and project exposure.

Many designers in smaller firms still earn less unless they switch or move to bigger cities like Bengaluru or Mumbai. Skills and portfolio make a huge difference.
