I’ve been diving into robotics lately while trying to juggle my music stuff, and it's been quite the ride. I keep hearing random bits of advice thrown around, and honestly, some of it is just wild. Like, what’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve heard someone suggest when it comes to building robots or coding? I mean, there’s gotta be some real gems out there that are just plain terrible.

I’ve come across people saying things like, 'Just wing it and hope for the best,' which just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I can’t imagine taking that approach with something that involves so much wiring and coding. Anyway, I’m curious to hear some of the worst advice you’ve encountered in the robotics scene. Let’s see if we can compile a list of truly awful takes!

I've heard some pretty wild advice too. Here are a few that stand out:

1. 'Just copy and paste code from the internet.' This can lead to serious issues if you don't understand what the code does. Always take the time to learn and modify the code to fit your project.

2. 'Don't bother testing your robot until it's finished.' Testing should happen throughout the building process. Catching issues early saves time and frustration later.

3. 'You don't need to plan your design.' Sketching out your robot's design on paper or software helps clarify your ideas and avoid mistakes.

4. 'Only use the most expensive parts.' Sometimes, cheaper components can do the job just fine. Focus on quality and compatibility rather than price alone.

I'm kinda new to all this, so I might be missing something. When you say 'wing it and hope for the best,' what exactly does that mean in the context of building robots?

Isn't there a lot of planning involved? It sounds risky to just go into it without a solid plan.

I've seen it all in this field. The worst advice? 'Just wing it and hope for the best' is a classic. You can’t just throw wires together and expect magic.

Another gem I’ve heard is 'Don’t bother with safety measures. It'll be fine.' Yeah, that’ll end well.

And let’s not forget, 'Just use whatever scraps you have lying around.' Great for art projects, terrible for robotics. Stick to the basics and don’t skip the planning.

That kind of advice is infuriating.

Robotics is complex. Just winging it can lead to serious mistakes.

I once heard someone say, 'Just copy code from the internet without understanding it.' That's a surefire way to end up lost.

Also, I've seen people suggest using duct tape for wiring connections. Like, no thanks! That's not how you build reliable robots.
