South Korean AI chip startup DEEPX is expanding its collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group to create a generative AI robot computing platform utilizing its second-generation low-power chips. As part of a funding round aimed at raising over 600 billion won ($408 million), DEEPX is preparing for a potential IPO.

Founded by former Apple engineer Lokwon Kim, DEEPX specializes in neural processing units (NPUs) that allow on-device AI processing for robots and other applications.

The upcoming DX-M2 chips, set for mass production next year using advanced 2-nanometer technology, aim to enhance the efficiency of Hyundai's robotics platform.

DEEPX's current chips are reported to be significantly more power-efficient compared to Nvidia's offerings. The startup also plans to achieve $40 million in revenue this year, while considering both domestic and potential U.S. stock market listings.
